National Training Schools offers a five-day, 40-hour CDL Refresher Training program designed for experienced drivers who already hold a Class A CDL and want to refresh their skills before returning to work. This CDL training program is ideal for drivers who have been away from the industry and want to regain confidence with current regulations, safety practices, and driving techniques.

The refresher program provides customized CDL training based on individual experience levels. Drivers receive hands-on instruction behind the wheel of a semi tractor-trailer, allowing them to practice real-world driving skills in a structured environment. Training focuses on areas where refreshment is most needed, helping drivers prepare for employment with trucking companies that expect professional-level performance.

This program is also beneficial for drivers who want to review industry standards before applying for new positions. If a CDL road test is required, Florida state-licensed CDL examiners on staff can conduct testing at an additional charge through approved 3rd-party testing.

Proficiency vs Hours

FMCSA has announced that driver proficiency will be given increased priority in CDL testing, as drivers will be expected to demonstrate a higher level of testable skills than ever before, along with superior command behind the wheel. Driving simulators can efficiently measure proficiency at the level expected by the FMCSA, and can progressively increase difficulty, track progress, and monitor results.

As the FMCSA commits to higher levels of safety and proficiency standards, drivers will invest more time and effort to ensure success. As drivers strive to meet the demand of new industry standards, they will very likely increase their commitment to voluntary simulator training, studying, and behind-the-wheel training.
